Professional Short Courses

COURSE INFO PROVIDER: Richard Chinn Environmental Training, Inc.
COURSE TITLE: ACOE Wetland Delineation, Waters of the US and Regional Supplement Training

INSTRUCTORS Richard Chinn, PWS

COURSE DESCRIPTION This 4 day, 38 hour course, developed by the Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE) for the Wetland Delineator Certification Program (WDCP) and expanded by Richard Chinn Environmental Training, Inc., covers the wetland delineation protocol mandated by the ACOE, both the 1987 Manual with guidance and the Regional Supplemental methodology. Specifics are presented on the science and application of hydrology, hydrophytic vegetation, hydric soils, and historical incidents. Current topics, including the implications of the SWANCC and Rapanos decisions and the Regional Supplemental methods are addressed. The first two days of the course are lecture / group discussion; the latter two days are all field work. This course provides the skills necessary for a person to delineate wetlands correctly, provides approximately 2.6 credit hours of specific wetland coursework toward the Society of Wetland Scientists' Professional Wetland Scientist certification, satisfies most state Department of Transportation wetland training requirements, and satisfies the education requirements to sit for the Minnesota and Virginia wetland certification examinations. Richard Chinn is a WDCP-listed trainer, Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS), ACOE-certified Wetland Delineator, and Certified Environmental Trainer. Mr. Chinn has personally trained 7000+ scientists since 1994 in ACOE protocol for the WDCP with varying levels of education and experience. No prerequisite knowledges or skills are required for the training; ability to identify common, dominant, local plants is required for wetland determinations. Fee: $1075 includes comprehensive workbook, Midwest Regional Supplement (or a different supplement upon request), interpretative clarification memoranda, State List of Hydric Soils, NWI Plant List for that Region, Certificate, approximately 2.6 credit hour equivalents toward Professional Wetland Scientist certification, 3.8 CEUs, and miscellaneous information. Richard Chinn provides ACOE training in 25+ cities annually. Please see our web page, http://www.richardchinn.com, for other courses & locations.
