ABSTRACT:
The webinar will focus on urban wetland management in Cameroon. We will introduce Cameroonian Ramsar sites to the attendee; and we will highlight the policies, organizations, and challenges involved in Cameroonian wetland management. A case study will also be presented regarding the Urban wetlands of Yaounde VII Subdivision. We will also discuss the practical application of geospatial tools in assessing spatial changes in wetlands, and the utilization of remote sensing and geospatial technology in the management of natural resources and environmental protection in urban planning. The subject of these topics will be exemplified by the products of the various software packages used in areal and satellite image processing and digital cartography including Envi, Erdas, Idrissi, MapInfo, ArcGIS, ArcView, Global Mapper, Surfer etc.

BIO:
Edith Kongnso is a PhD fellow at the University of Bamenda, Cameroon, and has been a researcher at the Ministry of Scientific Research and Innovation (MINRESI) / National Institute of Cartography in Cameroon since January 2016. She applies GIS and remote sensing in natural resource management and environmental protection with a focus on wetlands.
